Employee Spotlight: Meet Reid Rugar

In this week’s edition of our Employee Spotlight series, we’re thrilled to introduce you to Reid Rugar, one of the brilliant minds behind the scenes at Agile Offroad. With nearly six years of dedicated service under his belt, Reid brings a wealth of expertise and passion to the table. From his love for crafting intricate Victron power systems to his knack for diagnosing any Van issue thrown his way, Reid’s journey at Agile Offroad is nothing short of inspiring. Join us as we delve into his world of off-road adventures, weekend projects, and the cherished companionship of his girlfriend Tammy and faithful pup, Hank. Get ready to be inspired by Reid’s enthusiasm for all things automotive and beyond!
Let’s kick things off by talking about your journey with Agile Offroad. How long have you been a part of the team?
“Come May, it’ll mark my sixth year with Agile Offroad. I have grown so much in my years being here, John has really helped to guide me in cultivating my specific skill set. Time really does fly when you’re surrounded by great people and doing what you love.”

Reid, in 2018, originally joined the team as the Master Welder.
Speaking of doing what you love, we’ve know you’re quite passionate about building out Victron power systems, can you share a bit more about your interest in that?
“There’s something so satisfying about creating efficient and reliable power systems. It’s like a puzzle that I get to solve, and the end result is something that truly makes a difference. Diving into the Victron systems is always a rewarding experience.”
What is it about diagnosing Van problems that excites you?
“Diagnosing the issues a Van might have when it comes in is a fun challenge for me. It’s all about unraveling the mystery behind a problem and then finding the solution. Whether it’s electrical, mechanical, or anything in between, I thrive on the opportunity to troubleshoot and fix things. It’s like being a detective, but with wires and tools instead.”

You specialize in wiring and lights. Can you tell us more about your expertise in this area?
“Wiring and lights are my bread and butter. I’ve spent years perfecting my skills in this realm, from designing intricate wiring setups to ensuring that every light shines just right. It’s all about attention to detail and craftsmanship, and I take a lot of pride in my work.”
You’re quite involved in the off-road community. What drew you to that?
“Off-roading has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. There’s just something exhilarating about hitting the trails and pushing the limits of your vehicle. Plus, the off-road community is like a big family, always ready to lend a hand or share tips and tricks.”
You spend a good portion of your time at Ocotillo Wells at your family’s property. What do you love most about that?
“Ocotillo Wells is my happy place. I love exploring the trails, or just soaking in the beauty of the desert, it’s where I feel most at peace. It’s a place where I can disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and just be.”
What kinds of weekend projects do you typically tackle?
“From tinkering with my latest off-road build to tackling home improvement projects, weekends are my time to roll up my sleeves and get my hands dirty. There’s always something new to learn and create, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Speaking of projects, we’ve heard that you’re currently building a Bronco 2 Prerunner. Can you tell us more about that?
“The Bronco 2 project has been a labor of love for me. It’s a dream I’ve been chasing for years, and I’m finally bringing it to life. From custom fabrication work to fine-tuning the suspension, every step of the build is an adventure, and I can’t wait to see it tearing up the trails.”

We know that you have a special someone in your life – your girlfriend Tammy – and a beloved dog named Hank. Can you tell us a bit about them?
“Tammy and Hank are my rocks. Tammy is my partner in crime, always by my side through thick and thin. And Hank, well, he’s more than just a dog – he’s family. His boundless energy and unwavering loyalty never fail to put a smile on my face.”
